Preparation for kindergarten is emphasized in our Pre-K class. Activities are designed to develop each child - academically, socially and emotionally - and create a foundation of skills upon which all future learning is built. The teachers incorporate math and reading skills into a developmentally based curriculum that is designed to meet the early learning standards established by the state department of education. With a combination of teacher-directed and child-directed activities, the teachers use the child's natural curiosity to promote learning and discovery in learning centers such as: reading, writing, math, art and sensory, manipulatives , block play, housekeeping, science and computers. Group play/whole group activities are emphasized to further develop such skills as listening, sharing and cooperation.
The Pre-K students are between the ages of 4 and 5 years. The class room has a maximum of 23 children with a ratio of 1:10 (state ratio 1:12). The daily "Pre-K News" keeps you informed of your child's daily activities.
