In our Tot class, we feel strongly that the children need a chance to try their wings! At this age the children begin to interact with peers, parents and caregivers on a more complex level. The children begin to understand group play and become better communicators - turning their thoughts into words and sentences. Such skills as sharing, cooperation and taking turns will be practiced on a daily basis. These new achievements contribute to their overall feeling of self-esteem and confidence. The children spend a major portion of their day exploring freely while supported and guided by teachers. A typical day in our Tot program consists of music, reading, singing songs and an interactive circle time. Our Tots experience an art and sensory project every day by exploring different textures, smells and tactiles that help enhance their cognitive development.
Our Tots are between the ages of 18 months and 2.4 years old. We offer a low teacher to child ratio of 1:5 (state ratio is 1:6). Class size is kept to a maximum of 10 children. Each child continues to receive a daily "Tot Gram" which conveys information and happenings back to the parent.
